At ILCAM, looking after people’s health means going far beyond responding to emergencies. It means creating a space built on trust and active listening, where everyone feels supported and guided on a wellbeing journey that fits naturally into everyday life. It was with this vision that, just over a year ago, the Health & Wellbeing Hub was launched under the leadership of Arianna Patrizi, the company’s Occupational Health Nurse. Far more than a facility for first aid and minor treatments, it has become a trusted point of reference for health education, routine health checks such as blood pressure monitoring, and support for psychological wellbeing.
The first year’s results tell the story of a workplace where health has become a tangible value. The cardiovascular screening programme—initially introduced at Cormons and later extended to LICAR and ILCAMLAC—achieved voluntary participation rates of over 70% at some sites, demonstrating that health becomes a shared priority when wellbeing services are embedded into the working day. Cancer prevention has also been a key focus, with a breast self-examination awareness workshop that will return in October and be rolled out across all company sites, helping to break down taboos and reinforce the message that breast cancer can affect anyone. Alongside these initiatives, ILCAM has delivered its annual flu vaccination campaign, first aid training with realistic emergency simulations, and health awareness campaigns through its digital noticeboards, which will continue with the upcoming Health Tips series.
The journey is set to continue with new initiatives already in development, including a dermatological screening programme and a voluntary on-site blood testing service delivered in partnership with the Red Cross. At ILCAM, prevention is not simply a compliance requirement; it is a conscious, everyday commitment. Providing employees with the tools to protect their health not only helps reduce risks but also strengthens trust, engagement and a sense of belonging.
This close connection between wellbeing and organisational performance is what truly defines the company’s long-term sustainability.
